Sixth Form Ball

Saturday, February 25th, 2006

For those who do not know, I went to the Sixth Form Ball last night. It was amazing fun, a night I doubt I will forget for a long time, now if only maths had the same effect. I also got thrusted into my ungrubby mits before I left the nearest digital camera, I have spent the morning arranging the photos into Gallery 2 you can now view them on my gallery.

I would like to thank the captains once again for organising a well planned and exceptional evening great fun was had by all (maybe excluding the ones that left in ambulances!)

Stumbling the web I wound up at this ‘insightful’ read: Facts on Farts

Skiing Review - Saturday & Sunday

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006

Well we showed ‘em … how not to Ski, with great style and a injection of humour along the way, a sprinkling of pain to wash it all down. Where shall we start, I suppose an attempt at a chronological breakdown of what happened would be good, so, here I go.

I have ordered Within Temptation - Mother Earth on Amazon, and it should be with me by the 28th so whoopy :)

Arf Productions

Tuesday, February 21st, 2006

I have long known that some of my friends are bordering on clinically insane status, these videos should be a testament to that.

Thankfully I am not involved in any of them :P.

Skiing

Friday, February 10th, 2006

As some will know I am off to Italy for a week of skiing, yay. I intend to be alive at the end with no broken limbs, fingers croseed. ;) Because of this my server will not be online very often, I shall not be online again till Sunday 19th if all goes well. I do, however, have to endure a ~26 hour coach journey from Bristol to the Italian Alps, ooh the joys. At least I have my miniture music collection (4 full MP3 CDs and counting) to passify my requirement for audible entertainment.

Good news now, wait that was good :), Firefox 1.5.0.1 fixed my recent crashes and memory leaks. I am a happy bunny. :)

New Albums

Friday, February 10th, 2006

I thought I should mention some recent Albums I have bought and listened too, with worrying results. I have essentially become addicted to gothic/symphonic rock, my day is not without cravings for the music wailing of female fronted metal bands and their accompaniment of guitars, ‘tubs’ and other sound producing tools.

I have bought (or in the process of buying):

  • Within Temptation - The Silent Force
  • Evanescence - Anywhere but Home
  • Within Temptation - Mother Earth
  • Lacuna Coil - The EP’s
  • Lacuna Coil - In a Reverie

Time for me to make a few Heavy Metal purchases me thinks. *looks at London Metal Exchange website*

Firefox Crashes

Wednesday, February 8th, 2006

If anyone knows why drag and drop makes Firefox 1.5 eat my CPU on Linux let me know, its getting rather annoying.

Network Configuration

Wednesday, February 8th, 2006

After much umming and arring for a period of almost a year on what ADSL router to buy I eventually bit the bullet and got a Linksys WAG354G. It replaces the solution of using my parents PC as a router through Windows XP’s ICS system, I had to SSH to the machine to connect it to the internet :(. Those days are now gone now, thankfully. I have reconfigured the router to use my internal netrange rather than its default. It now uplinks to the switch upstairs providing the machines upstairs with internet access and the ones downstairs are connected through the routers inbuilt switch. Only real problem with it is that its support for DynDNS is very poor, a firmware upgrade solved most of the problems. The latest firmware provides no way to set the Wildcard flag, so my server has to run ipcheck still (it fetches the WLAN IP from the router now though).

Nothing much more to say on the subject of geekery, for now. ;)

I do hope the Upper Sixth drama production went well :-D
