Time for a little software upgrade, I have upgraded sandman.toonarmy.mine.nu (server that powers this site) to use PHP5.1 and MySQL 5 which have all been installed with no problems. Rather than compiling from source I used the packages available from dotdeb.org.

eAccelerator was the only problem it needed to be recompiled, but was not compatible with the changes to the Zend engine. After a bit of googling I found a snapshot that compiled fine with PHP 5.1.

Birthdays tend to produce an influx in cash flow, which encourages spending IMHO therefore, I bought a nice new Samsung SyncMaster 730BF. I am now poor again, until next year I suppose.

I also got a little more memory for my workstation, 512MiB more infact, and a Razer Diamondback.

Yup today is indeed my 18th birthday, w00t I can legally go and purchase alchofrol and tell my parents to sod off (not that I would), but they own the house so maybe that is not a good thing to do.

I found this collection of animated ASCII art images rather humourous, but I am just sad like that.

As you may have guessed I am in a good mood, that is because all my exams are over for this term.

Last exam, physics, was not too bad could have been better, didn’t help that I was short sighted.

Maths exam went better than expected so, hopefully, that is a good result.

Past three days has been a bugfixorama where Minerva is concerned, I managed to tackle several nasties and inject the CVS with the corrected code

Bugs fixed include …

• Unread posts tracking
• Groups Management
• Search with global announcements
• Blocks updated to work with new caching changes
• Little wriggly bits that I created

Off to watch some TV or maybe play some Quake 4 … later.

After someone prompted me for some information regarding my server configuration I noticed that the PHP extension responsible for generating images was not installed, because I compile my own version and it got removed when I upgraded PHP.

I have rebuilt the Ubuntu package which is available for download from my FTP server, it fixes transparency issues with the supplied one.
